Shockwave Therapy offers effective treatment for persistent tendon and soft tissue pain

At PhysioHub, we provide Radial Shockwave Therapy using advanced equipment from Storz Medical, one of the world's leading shockwave therapy manufacturers. Their technology is trusted by physiotherapists, sports medicine clinics and elite athletes worldwide to help treat persistent tendon and soft tissue injuries.

Shockwave therapy is a safe, non-invasive treatment that can help reduce pain and stimulate the body's natural healing processes when symptoms have been present for several months.

What Conditions Can Shockwave Therapy Help?

Shockwave therapy is commonly used for:

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel pain

  • Achilles tendinopathy

  • Tennis elbow

  • Golfer's elbow

  • Patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee)

  • Shoulder calcific tendinitis

  • Gluteal tendinopathy (hip pain)

  • Other persistent tendon and soft tissue conditions

How Does Shockwave Therapy Work?

Shockwave therapy delivers high-energy sound waves into the affected tissue using a handheld device. These acoustic waves stimulate the body's natural healing response by:

  • Increasing blood flow to the area

  • Encouraging tissue repair and regeneration

  • Reducing pain sensitivity

  • Helping damaged tendon tissue recover

Most treatments take around 15–20 minutes and require no injections, medication or surgery.

Why We Use Storz Medical

Not all shockwave machines are created equal. We use shockwave equipment supplied by Storz Medical, a global leader in shockwave technology with decades of experience and extensive clinical research supporting its use. This allows us to provide high-quality, evidence-based treatment as part of your rehabilitation programme.

What Happens During Treatment?

During treatment, a small handheld applicator is placed over the affected area. The shockwaves are delivered through the skin to the injured tissue. Most patients describe the sensation as a series of rapid pulses or tapping sensations. Treatment intensity can be adjusted to ensure it remains tolerable while still being effective.

Most appointments last around 20-30 minutes and you can usually return to normal daily activities straight afterwards.

Who Is Shockwave Therapy For?

Shockwave therapy may be suitable if:

  • Your pain has been present for more than 3 months

  • You have a diagnosed tendon injury or tendinopathy

  • Previous treatments have not fully resolved your symptoms

  • Your condition is limiting work, exercise, sport or daily activities

A full assessment is required to determine whether shockwave therapy is the right option for you.
